Poem: sunshade.

I stared long enough for the light to change,
Three seconds I counted down and there was a passing.
People walked from corner to corner,
And I asked the girl beside me why she followed.

Don't forget, two or three more blocks,
And there was water in the gutter.
Don't forget, a yellow sunshade out front,
And walking over it, a wide, white beam.

First I saw the couple, kneeled by a stilt.
More in the back, they looked up and said.
I thought to leave them there, those three,
So that I may face water, a soughing wind.
